A great addition to any dish, this simple homemade jam can be ready in less than 15 minutes! Use Pumpkin Spice Mix for an added twist--whether it's Christmas morning breakfast alongside toast or dinner served up during winter holidays.

Have you ever made your own cranberry jam? It's surprisingly easy and the results are delicious. This recipe uses a combination of frozen cranberries, wild blueberries and fresh shredded apples along with warming spices like pumpkin spice mix (cinnamon, ginger). The end result is a spread that is perfect for toast, muffins, pancakes, oatmeal the list goes on. Give it a try!

Spiced Cranberry Jam

Yields: over 1 cup

Ingredients:

  1. Thaw the frozen cranberries for 10 minutes.
  2. Rinse under cool running water and drain in a colander. Skip this process if your cranberries were rinsed before freezing.
  3. Place the cranberries in a pot and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally for about 5 min then use a potato masher to press the cranberries down until they are mushy.
  4. Add shredded apple and blueberries and all the spices as well as maple syrup. Mix well, and cook for 4 to 5 min, stirring occasionally on medium-low heat. Then mush the blueberries and cook for an additional 1 min or so. You want the jam to be thick.
  5. Remove from heat and cool before transferring to a jar or bowl.
  6. Enjoy when cool.

Store in the fridge for 3 weeks.

Tip:

  • You can double the recipes and store the extra in the freezer for up to 3 months.
