Newfoundland: The Road Trip That Stole Our Hearts

Jump to Recipe

When a place calls you back, you listen. Years ago, we visited Newfoundland when our daughter was just a baby. Back then, our adventures were short and our hikes were few—but the island’s wild beauty stayed in our hearts. This summer, we returned for a two-week road trip… and Newfoundland welcomed us with open arms.

From the dramatic cliffs and fjords of Gros Morne National Park, to watching ancient icebergs drift past Twillingate, to walking the windswept trails of Fogo Island, every day felt like stepping into a postcard. We shared meals in cozy seaside cafés, hiked trails that ended in jaw-dropping views, and met some of the warmest people you’ll ever encounter.

And the puffins—oh, the puffins! Standing on the cliffs of Bonavista, watching hundreds of them dart over the ocean, I couldn’t help but feel that this is one of the most magical corners of Canada.

If you’ve ever dreamed of a road trip that combines wild nature, colorful fishing villages, fresh ocean air, and moments that stay with you long after you’ve returned home, Newfoundland should be next on your list.

🎥 I’ve captured our entire journey in a new YouTube video—complete with hikes, vegan food finds, coastal towns, and our favorite hidden spots. You can watch it here: Newfoundland's Best Kept Secrets

Trust me—by the end, you’ll be ready to book your ticket.
